I Don't Know Anything About The Baby Business

In just a few short hours, I got an eye popping look into the high priced world of baby clothes and products. Christine and I headed to Babies R' Us to register and I have to say it was the first time I've ever really cared about baby stuff. I was excited. I was into it. I thought it would be easy.

But after three hours it started to feel like that scene in Forrest Gump. You know the one where Bubba rattles off his long list of ways to cook shrimp. "Shrimp Gumbo, Shrimp Kabobs, Fried Shrimp -- then he says -- "I know everything there is to know about the shrimpin business."

Back to the store...

Baby Shoes, Baby Swaddles, Baby Seats, Baby Clothes, Baby Boppie (what?), Baby Bottles... BABY OVERLOAD. Stuff I've never heard of! I asked myself, did I have these things growing up? Then I realized...I don't know anything about the baby business.

Anyway, every day gets a little more exciting and even though there's a lot to think about, my face had a big smile on it when Christine brought home Chastin's first outfit.

  1. Hey Sean - nice blog. Really enjoyed the read. I don't think I had half of the stuff we have bought either! I'll follow your updates. Contrats again on Chastin! Cheers, Michael

  2. The baby gear shopping is overwhelming. When Justin and I had our first experience at Babies’R’us he had a small temper tantrum ("Angry Red" came out) and muttered something about getting a second job to pay for all the baby stuff. Just wait in no time you will be able to chat about which stroller you prefer. Ahh how having babies change us. I didn’t know what a boppie was either – but I hope you registered for one they are great. I hope Mom and baby are feeling great!!
