Aidan and Audrey Updates

June 2nd 1:30 PM

Day seven, the contractions have slowed way down. Chastin visited today and he was happy to see his mommy. Christine is hanging in there. I can't imagine being cooped up in a hospital bed for this long. The hard part is not knowing how long she will be there. It could be days or weeks. I heard that full term for twins is 36 weeks. I'm thankful for blogging because it allows me to keep everyone in the loop and also gives us something to look back on.

June 1st 7:04 PM

Hi everyone, got a call from Christine at 6:30 am saying contractions were starting up and were painful and 4-5 minutes apart. By the time I got to the hospital the nurse had given Christine a medication that slowed them down. Most of the day has been quiet. Around 5:30 the contractions started up again. 10 minutes apart and painful. Our doc has Christine on a new drug. It's is a little stronger and lasts longer. Tomorrow night Christine has been there a week.

May 31st 5:02 PM

I just realized I was off by a day or so with my blog titles...So I reordered my past few entries. We should be good now. Today is Tuesday May 31st. Christine is toughing out a long stay in the beautiful and luxurious women's center at Northside Hospital. (5 Days and Counting) She is 33 weeks today and there has been discussion of inducing labor if she makes it to 34 weeks. The docs are now backing off on that. The babies are healthy and Christine's water is holding up so why rush it. The longer they can stay in the better. Plus it will shorten their stay in the NICU. We appreciate all the calls and visits and the help with Chastin. I am back at work this week...but I can be at the hospital in 10 minutes. I'm visiting my sweetie -- every night. Chastin and I miss her at home. More later.

May 30th 10:41 PM

Hi, still slow going. I was able to come home for the night. Christine is doing great. More tomorrow.

May 29th 6:36 PM

Things starting to pickup. I'm at home with Chastin heading over to Northside soon. Christine tells me it could be tonight. I won't have the computer with me so I will send out texts. We are getting ultrasounds every day and the amniotic fluid still looks great.

May 29th 7:15 AM

Good morning. We had a good night. Contractions have pretty much stopped. Christine says she only had one last night.  Since her water has broken we can't leave. Chastin is coming to visit today and Christine is excited to see him. Good news is that both babies are right around 5lbs and healthy. More later. Things can pick up anytime.

May 28th 1:00 PM

The docs gave Christine steroids to help the babies lungs develop quickly in case they come early. The magnesium has slowed down the contractions too. The idea is to give the steroids time to work. Christine will be on magnesium for 48 hours. Once the MAG wears off the contractions will start back up. We are thinking that the babies can come in the next couple days. The docs says 50% of women deliver after stopping MAG. Oh, and her water has broke too. But just a slow leak.

May 28th 9:00 AM

Hi everyone. We've been in the hospital since Thursday night. Christine started having contractions and was 1-2 cm .dilated. The doc told us that Christine will be in the hospital until the babies arrive. It could be weeks or days. She is now 3-4 cm dilated. Lots of testing going on and the contractions are random. Giving Christine medication to slow contractions but it's not working. So the doc busted out the big gun "Magnesium" should stop everything.
